KINGSPORT – Holston Medical Group (HMG) is pleased to welcome Dr. Cory Knecht, MD, to HMG Orthopedics, expanding their team of specialists. Dr. Knecht will be serving patients at two locations: Medical Plaza, 105 W. Stone Dr., Suite B, Kingsport, and Sapling Grove, 240 Medical Park Blvd., Suite 1500, Bristol, Tenn. He will join the esteemed ranks of Dr. Steven Krein, Dr. Jason Park, Dr. Lindsay Remy, and Dr. Ashraf Youssef.

Growing up on his family’s farm in rural Ohio, Dr. Knecht developed an early appreciation for the significance of maintaining physical well-being. “Farming requires a tremendous amount of physical labor, and my drive to become an orthopedic surgeon was initially inspired by my desire to help farmers continue farming for as long as they can,” he explained.

Dr. Knecht earned his medical doctorate at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, OH. Following this, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, OH, and then pursued a fellowship at Stanford University, where he specialized in hip and knee joint reconstruction surgery in Redwood City, Calif.

During his time at Stanford University, Dr. Knecht had the privilege of training with some of the world’s leading joint replacement surgeons. His goal is to leverage this high-quality education and training to benefit patients in Eastern Tennessee.

Dr. Knecht provides comprehensive orthopedic care and specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. His services include anterior and posterior approaches for hip replacement, and partial and total knee replacements. He also incorporates the use of MAKO robotics selectively for replacement procedures.

“As a surgeon, I believe it’s important to listen to my patients’ concerns and then educate them on their options,” said Dr. Knecht. “Together, working as a team, we can create a personalized treatment plan to optimize mobility and quality of life.”

In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Knecht enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two young daughters. An avid outdoorsman, he finds delight in archery, whitetail deer hunting, fishing, and dirt bike trail riding. Dr. Knecht and his family are eager to embrace the values of the East Tennessee region.
