Cyclone cross country team owns field in recent meet

The Elizabethton cross country team continued its strong running over the past week when both the boys and girls picked up first-place team plaques for two consecutive weeks of action.
This week’s victory came at the Walters State Senators Invitational in Morristown after the big win at the Terry Hull Crawford Classic last week,
In girls race action, Helen Hackett paced the Lady Cyclones to victory by finishing second in a time of 22:10. Freshman Madeline Isaacs finished fourth with a finishing time of 22:56 and Jasey Hyatt crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 23:53.
The trio of girls all medaled in the event.
Four more Lady Cyclones finished in the top 25 of the event. Those included
13th – Adrian Heading 25:18
16th – Ashliegh Hyatt 25:50
22nd – Amberlin Grindstaff 27:11
On the boys side, it was a one-two finish for the Cyclones as seniors Riley Vernon and Max Garner led all runners across the finish line. Vernon finished first in a time of 17:33 while Garner was close on his heels with a finishing time of 17:45.
Two more Cyclones finished in the top 10 of the race as Jerry Behrmann collected a fifth-place finish in a time of 18:15 and Cooper Chinault took the seventh-place spot in a time of 18:56.
All four runners medaled in the event for their finish.
Three other Cyclone runners finished in the top 20. They were:
11th William Snodgrass 19:19
14th Brian Presley 19:40
17th Cooper Jack 19:58
The team left this week to participate in the prestigious Woodbridge Cross Country Classic held in Irvine, California.
