Darrell Ray Ballard, of 71, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late William Ed Ballard and Fronie Blevins Bowers.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Luther Bowers, and brother, Marvin Bud Ballard.
Ray was known to work hard throughout all his life. He loved to go to the flea market to find a good deal, work on things around his home and remodel cars with his son. He was a loving and faithful husband, who loved his family and especially his granddaughter (the apple of his eye), more than anything. Ray was an honest, loving, and dependable man and a true believer of the Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa Ballard, of the home; son, Bobby Ballard, of the home; daughter, Trinety Loud (Billy) and granddaughter, Addison, all of Maryville, Tenn.; brothers, Wade Ballard (Carolyn) of Bluff City, Dale Ballard of Pennsylvania, and Ron (Phuong) of Clarksville, Tenn.; and sister, Susie Lane of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a service to celebrate the life of Ray at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, at Southside Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12 and 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Neuro ICU at Johnson City Medical Center, especially Hera and Lisa for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
