As the regular season draws closer and closer by the day, the T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones continue to iron out the wrinkles as they are just one of the area teams that welcome the opportunity to square off against other teams in preseason scrimmages just ahead of the 2023 season.
Wednesday evening at Citizens Bank Stadium, the Jr. Cyclones welcomed conference foe Robinson from Kingsport for a scrimmage which was TAD’s second preseason scrimmage after facing the Norris Senators on Saturday.
Both the junior varsity and varsity teams had plenty of snaps in the scrimmage.
The Jr. Cyclones continued to make strides on both sides of the ball as the effort wasn’t nearly as crisp as the one on Saturday with the defense having a mix of success against the Redskins while the offense proved it could string together a series of plays to drive the football against its opponent.
While the score doesn’t really matter, Coach Brock Pittman and staff had to be pleased with several things they witnessed on the team’s second outing while noting some things that also needed to be cleaned up.
The season begins in earnest for TAD on August 17th when the team travels to take on Boone in the season opener. Kickoff will be at 5:30 pm for the varsity team and the junior varsity begins immediately after the conclusion of the varsity contest.
