Charles Lacey, 96, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home in Elizabethton. Charles was born in Elizabethton to the late Donald Reece Lacey and Ethel Byrd Lacey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Lacey of Conyers, Ga.
Charles retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a United States Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Charles enjoyed gardening, mowing the yard and making and selling homemade ice cream.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 75 years, Helen Tester Lacey of the home; his son, Dwight Lacey of Elizabethton; and one sister, Velma Beach of Kingston, Ill. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton on Thursday, August 3, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to sign the guestbook and pay their respects.
A graveside service to celebrate Charles’ life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jeff Snyder. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday.
