Saturday Night Jazz at the Bonnie Kate Theater will feature two bands August 5.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. Tickets are $10.
Featured bands include Frito Fuente and TJO Seven.
Frito Fuente play Latin jazz like habanero peppers taste. They’re fiery. Frito Puente’s style spans Latin flavored artists like Santana and Chick Corea, jazz standards from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Thelonius Monk, and original compositions. Latin Jazz with a spicy blend of standards and originals with Bill Perkins on guitar, Sam Burke on bass, and Jose Castillo on congas and percussion.
Latin Jazz features Tom Peterson, saxes; Bill Perkins, guitar; Glenn Diamond, bass, and Jose Castillo, drugs, congas, and percussion.
They will be followed by TJO Seven, a little big band with four horns directed by Eddie Dalton. The Kingsport-based TJO Seven is comprised of musicians from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia who favor the stylings of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and others.
The band plays music from the 1940s forward. with music from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson as well as The Blues Brothers, Chicago (Rock Band), Village People and many more.
This will be a great night of jazz music played by outstanding musicians featuring a good variety of styles.
