John Dale Fenner, 69, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at his residence. He was born April 5, 1954 in Carter County to the late Darius Fenner and Olena Hart Fenner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Fenner Anderson, and brother, Donald “Bodie” Fenner.
John Dale was a master Sheetmetal Pressman at American Air Filter for 23 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed deer hunting, wood working, riding motorcycles, working on bicycles, raising his garden and listening to bluegrass music. John Dale had been a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church for many years and had attended Elizabethton First Church of the Nazarene.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Teresa Trivett Fenner, of Elizabethton; sisters, Shirley Fenner Arnett of Roan Mountain, and Margaret Fenner Reece and husband Lynn of Elizabethton; brothers-in-law, Keith Trivett (best friend for 48 years) and wife Connie, and Steve Trivett and fiancée Robin deBry; special aunt, Faye Moffitt Smith and husband John; friend, Mike “Jimmy” Jenkins; nephew, Phillip Reece; niece, Jessica Reece Wilson; and many other nieces, nephews and special family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of John will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Charlie Trivette and Rev. Kenley Knight officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Keith Trivett, Steve Trivett, Mike “Jimmy” Jenkins, Rick Trivett, Bill Jones, Phillip Reece and Tim Reece. Honorary pallbearers are John Smith, Carmen Whitehead, Bob Rainbolt and Joe Lewis. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Humane Society, P.O.
