The identifiable sounds of mandolins, upright basses, fiddles, guitars, and dobro filtered throughout the beautiful Saturday night air at Covered Bridge Park as the Elizabethton Park and Recreation department put on their third annual Bluegrass Jamboree.
Featuring Stemwinder, Tim Decker & TN River, and internationally renowned Ralph Stanley II with his Clinch Mountain Boys, the event was another huge success as the grounds of the park were filled with bluegrass enthusiasts as were the banks across the Doe River as it was a perfect night for music as young and old alike came out for the fun.
Stanley II didn’t disappoint after playing for a Bill Monroe event in Indiana the previous night, Stanley had to rely on cough drops to help get him through the show as he sung some of the hits that have made him a Grammy-winning artist much like his father, the late Ralph Stanley Sr.
Stemwinder and Tim Decker & TN River got things rolling for the evening as the crowd took advantage of the food trucks enjoying items like lemonade, funnel cakes, and popcorn.
The event was part of the weekly Covered Bridge Jams that the department has throughout the summer.
