JONESBOROUGH – An altercation between two inmates in a security cell at the Washington County Detention Center has led to attempted second-degree murder charges being placed against Daniel Alejandro Mira, 29, of Coral Springs, Fla.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to the report of a physical altercation inside a cell the evening of June 14. WCDC medical staff responded to the cell and made the determination that the victim of the assault needed to be transported to the hospital for treatment. The victim of the assault is listed in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.

Mira’s bond is set at $100,000 with a court date pending.
