JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies charged Zachary Centers, 20, of Gray, with two counts of aggravated assault-domestic and one count of drinking under the age of 21 shortly before midnight on June 13.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to a call in the 100 block of Hideaway Hills Road. When deputies arrived, they heard screaming and banging noises indicating someone was in distress. Centers opened the door, appeared extremely agitated, and smelled strongly of alcohol.
The victims were located inside the home and had injuries indicative of an altercation. A hole was observed in the drywall of the home, and the victims told deputies those were made by Centers slamming one of them into the wall. He also threatened them with a knife, which was located on the stairs.
Emergency Medical Services arrived and evaluated the victims. Deputies took Centers into custody and transported him to the Washington County Detention Center. He is being held on a $21,000 bond and will have his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. on June 15.
