Joe Donald Smith (Joe Bud), 91, of 177 Fork Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the V.A. Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn. He was born on May 10, 1932 and was the son of the late Coy and Mollie Simerly Smith.
Joe was a Korean War Veteran (Army). He attended Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church which he enjoyed greatly.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette McKinney and Gail Hunt, and two brothers, Benny Smith and Junior Smith.
He is survived by one special sister, Brenda Landis, and two brothers, Kalamer Bill Smith and Randy Smith, all of Huntersville, N.C.; a special niece, Vickie Holmes, and special great-great-niece, Ava. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family. Military Honors will be provided.
