JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jeffrey Scott, 53, Jonesborough, during a traffic stop and charged him with Schedule II drug violations and possession of a firearm during a felony.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies initiated a traffic stop shortly after midnight on June 2. Upon asking if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, one of the occupants stated there was a pistol. K9 Rico preformed an open-air sniff of the vehicle at which time the driver, Scott, exited the vehicle and admitted he had methamphetamine on his person. Upon searching Scott, deputies discovered a brown leather satchel containing a plastic bag with 14.5 grams of a crystal rock substance identified by Scott as methamphetamine. WCSO will send the substance to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for testing.
Scott also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, and was arrested for that warrant as well. He was transported without incident to the Washington County Detention Center. Scott’s bond was set at $6,000 and his first appearance in court was slated for 1:30 p.m. June 5.
