On May 30, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Phillip Coffman, Kingsport, and charged him with burglary, theft of property, and criminal trespassing.
At approximately 8:36 p.m. on May 30, officers were called to Walmart, 3111 W. Browns Mill Road, in reference to a theft. Walmart’s loss prevention officer observed a white male, later identified as Phillip Coffman, concealing merchandise. Coffman arrived at the self-checkout with a shopping cart full of merchandise however only scanned and paid for a few of the items. Coffman then crossed all points of sale with the unpaid merchandise, but was ultimately detained by loss prevention. Coffman had also been previously trespassed from all Walmart properties.
Coffman is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $4,000 bond. An arraignment was on May 31 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On May 31, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Christopher R. Green, Johnson City, and charged him with theft of property over $1,000 (possession).
While investigating a trespassing issue at 328 Woodlyn Road, Johnson City, officers made contact with Green. He was in possession of a black Honda CBR motorcycle that had been reported stolen in April of this year. Green was also found to have several outstanding warrants out of Johnson City and neighboring jurisdictions.
Green was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. An arraignment was on June 1 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On May 9 at 10:44 p.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a fight at Tulips American Pub and Grub. Officers found a male victim bleeding from the neck due to a large laceration. Investigation revealed two males got into a physical altercation after a verbal argument. One male punched another male several times. The male who was assaulted used a knife to cut the other male’s throat.
The victim who was cut was transported to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.
Patrick James, 35, Greeneville, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
James turned himself in to Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $25,000 bond. An arraignment was on June 1 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
