Cyclones remain in first place after topping the Diamonds 12-2 in Elizabethton/Carter County Youth Softball action at Billy Bob Garrison Field on Friday night. Both teams would leave runners stranded on base for a scoreless first inning. The Diamonds would get a single and a walk to lead off the second but again leave runners on base. The Cyclones erupted for five runs off five hits to take a 5-0 lead after two. After holding the Diamonds with no runners in the top of the third, the Cyclones would add two more runs off of a hit and two errors to extend their lead to 7-0 after three. After trailing 12-0 in the top of the sixth, the Diamonds would try to make a comeback only to see their rally cut short, losing the game 12-2.
The Diamonds finish the season in second place, while the Cyclones finish first.
The tournaments started on Monday night.
