Nolan Ryan, I mean Campbell Gaby, was on the mound for North Greene in the second game of the District tournament Monday night. She was facing the Lady Bulldogs of Hampton. The flame thrower struck out 13 batters in five innings, leading the Huskies to a 10-0 win. At the plate, she went two for three and scored two runs with the Huskies scoring in five of the six innings.
Leading off with a three-run first inning, the Huskies added two in the third and fourth innings, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 10-0 win. The Lady Dogs could just not hit Gaby. Ryleigh Nickles broke up Gaby’s no-hitter in the first with a hit down the third base line, but it was Hampton’s only hit. Lacey Smith would be the only other Bulldog to reach base when she drew a walk in the sixth inning. North Greene will face Unaka in the winner’s bracket, while Hampton will face Cloudland Wednesday in the elimination game.
