Mary Evelyn Ramey Williams Bowers, 76, born on July 17, 1946, in Carter County (Stoney Creek Community), passed away April 28, 2023. She was a daughter of the late Calvin Kelsey Ramey and Novella (Williams) Ramey. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her three children, David “Rooster” Williams.
Mary was a homemaker and loved working in her flowers and collecting wind chimes. Most especially, Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her second husband, Eldridge “El” Bowers; her children, Lois (Joe) Johnson, Judy Whitaker and Lisa (Nathan) Harrell; step-daughters, Debbie Davenport and Lisa Montgomery; her grandchildren, Amy (Brent) Huskins, Matthew (Heaven) Daniels, Ashley Daniels and fiancé Johnny Gouge, David Williams, Dustin Daniels and fiancée Erika Potter, Brian Whitaker, Jessica Whitaker and Jessica (Eric) Guy; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and another great-great-grandchild due in December; her brother, Kelsey Junior (Joyce) Ramey; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. The celebration graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Buckles Cemetery with Preacher Joe Johnson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Johnny Gouge and David Williams. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:20 p.m. Friday.
