Northeast State Community College has announced registration is open for the Girls Rule! Technology Camp.
The Technologies Division will host a week-long camp from June 12-16 that gives fifth and sixth grade girls hands-on learning opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.
Girls Rule! Technology Camp immerses young learners in some of the largest-growing career paths, such as computer science, engineering, electricity, industrial technology, machine tools, aviation, and entertainment technology.
From 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants tackle instructor-led activities that involve state-of-the-art equipment in Northeast State’s Technology Education Center (TEC) in Blountville.
“Girls that are provided a strong foundation in STEM are equipped with a unique skill set that continues to feed their creative minds and build problem-solving skills,” said Dean of Technologies Division Dr. Donna Farrell. “Our camp will not only provide them with a wonderful foundation, but also build self-confidence while introducing them to STEM opportunities.
“The girls will learn individually as well as a working team. Our hope is when they leave us at the end of the week, they will have built great friendships, experienced hands-on STEM opportunities, and have fun while doing it.”
Registration is $190 and includes lunch and snacks. Spots are limited. Scholarship opportunities are available for qualified students in the registration form.
