JONESBOROUGH – Matthew Sinkes, 23, of Gray, was arrested at his residence Saturday night after leaving the scene of an accident.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies received a call that a white truck was stuck in a ditch on Hog Hollow Road. According to a witness, the truck drove away and deputies were able to track the truck due to the trail of debris it left behind. Deputies located the vehicle and the driver, Sinkes, who was intoxicated. A loaded handgun was found in the vehicle.
Sinkes is charged with failure to report an accident with damage, driving under the influence (first offense), implied consent violation, and going armed while intoxicated. He was arrested without incident and is being held at the Washington County Detention with a $2,500 bond. Arraignment is set for April 10.
