Glen Harrison, 82, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Erwin Health Care. Glen was born in the Shell Creek Community of Roan Mountain to the late Robert Lee Harrison and Millie Orpha (Jones) Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cobern Harrison; a granddaughter, Katie Leigh Gardner; and a great-grandson, Gabriel James Dalton Gardner.
His absence will leave a void, but we know he is free of pain and with his Savior.
Glen loved spring, his family and his community. He grew up on Buck Mountain and attended Cloudland High School, then East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions. He attended Laurel Fork Church of Christ and loved attending church.
Glen was also a talented carpenter, steel mill worker and bus driver but his true calling was ministering and preaching. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking through the mountains, carpentry work, westerns, being around children and he loved his wife’s family as much as his own! Glen will always be remembered as a kind, caring and generous Christian man.
Those left to cherish Glen’s many wonderful memories include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy “Katie” Storie Harrison; his son, Robert Lee Harrison; his daughter, Millie Michelle Harrison Gardner and husband Sam; one granddaughter, Heather Nicole Harrison; one grandson, Randall James Gardner and wife Emma; his great-grandsons, Cayden Dean Gardner and Sawyer James Gardner; a nephew, Gary Harrison and wife Kelly; a great-nephew, Jackson Lee Harrison; a great-niece, Kennedy Faye Harrison; his sisters-in-law, Betty Sue Harrison, Rita Storie and Norma Storie-Potter and husband Pete; a brother-in-law, Leslie L. Storie and wife Kathie; and a special school bus driving friend, Bill Miller.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, prior to the graveside service. A graveside service to honor Glen’s life will follow in the Markland Cemetery on Buck Mountain with Drew Leonard officiating. Active pallbearers will be Leslie Storie, Randal Gardner, Gary Harrison, Jack Johnson, Dalton Jones and Cody Street. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Miller, Sam Gardner, Scott Potter, Michael Harrison and Pete Potter. The family would like to thank the staff at Erwin Health Care for their exceptional care given to Glen. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in Glen’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
