Charlie Miller, 77, Roan Mountain, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Kathleen Campbell.
Charlie loved singing and playing the guitar, cars, and fishing. He was a member of the Sunrise Singing Quartet. His favorite thing was to joke with his family. He was retired from Snap-on Tools and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a baby brother, Billy Joe Miller, and his brothers, Tom Miller and Paul Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory are his best friend and wife of approximately 60 years, Shirley Lee Hughes; one son, Tony (Kim) Miller; his grandchildren, Natasha (Brandon, special grandson-in-law) Wooten and Anthony Miller, and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and McKenlie Wooten, all of Roan Mountain; a brother, Rob (Tonya) Miller of Elizabethton; and his sisters, Frances (James) Woods of Hickory, N.C., Retha (Clay) Markland and Julie (Ray) Waycaster of Morganton, N.C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, in the Johnson-Roan View Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Derick Hughes officiating. Active pallbearers will be Scott Markland, Kenneth Crabtree, Junior Markland, Brandon Wooten, Jeremy Lyons and Rob Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Powell and Dylan Markland. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
