WCSO traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Craig Smith, 31, Jonesborough, on Thursday, Dec. 22, during a routine traffic stop.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, Deputies stopped a blue Toyota Scion for speeding on Woodlyn Road. The driver, identified as Smith, was driving on a revoked driver’s license for DUI.
K9 Mali conducted an open air sniff around the vehicle giving a positive alert to the presence of an illegal narcotic. Deputies located inside the vehicle 1.4 grams of heroin and other drug paraphernalia.
Smith’s bond is set at $3,000 and a court date in Washington County Sessions Court is pending.
