According to the Elizabethton Electric Systems web page. The Elizabethton Electric Department has initiated an emergency loan curtailment plan. This plan includes rolling blackouts in 15-minute increments across the system. There are nine substations in the Elizabethton Electric System. This will be initiated throughout the Tri-Cities from electric systems that receive their power from the TVA. There is a strain on the electric grid due to the artic cold. In efforts to avoid a complete blackout for hours, the Elizabethton Electric System is being asked by the TVA to begin the incremental rolling blackouts at each substation one at a time for around 15 minutes. Everyone will lose power in increments of 15 minutes throughout the day. Hopefully this doesn’t have to continue throughout the night as well. Please make neighbors and family members that do not have social media aware of this situation so they can be prepared as well.
