On Wednesday, Nov. 30, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Vaughn Anderton, Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated assault, aggravated assault against a first responder, and resisting arrest.

Officers were dispatched to Capone’s on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in reference to a man threatening one of the employees with a knife. Once officers arrived in the area, they observed a man matching the description of the suspect climbing into a dumpster in the Downtown Square parking lot. Officers instructed him to get out of the dumpster and he responded by telling one of the officers that he was going to shoot them. Officers were able to remove the suspect from the dumpster and take him into custody without injury.

Anderton was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 1 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jesse Seals, Whitesburg, and charged him with custodial interference.

Officers responded to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital in reference to a juvenile issue. Upon arrival, officers learned that a child had been taken by the non-custodial father. The child was walking through the parking lot with the grandmother, hand-in-hand, back to their vehicle after a doctor’s appointment. It was learned that the child’s non-custodial father, Jesse Seals, took the child from the grandmother and left in a white Chevrolet Silverado.

Seals was located a short time later in Greene County by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody without incident. The child was unharmed. Seals was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 1 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Sonya Corder, Jonesborough, and charged her with two counts of forgery and two counts of theft of property.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, officers were dispatched to First Bank and Trust, 2100 Forest Drive, in reference to forged checks. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the victim, who stated he had two of his checks forged and passed at this location. Investigations revealed Corder forged both checks, one on October 28 in the amount of $200, and the other on November 1 in the amount of $250, for a total value of $450.

Corder was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery and two counts of theft of property under $1,000. Corder is being held in Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $1,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 1 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Friday, Dec. 2, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jamoral Hill, Kingsport, on a fugitive from justice from another state warrant out of North Carolina.

At about 7:43 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, while on patrol of Topper Academy school zone, officers observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit in the school zone. After conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, it was discovered the driver was a wanted fugitive from North Carolina on a parole violation.

Hill was transported to the Washington County Detention Center to be extradited back to North Carolina on his charge.

On Friday, Dec. 2, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Mark Hiser, Johnson City, and charged him with felony possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of Schedule 3 and four counts of unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving while in possession of methamphetamine, driving on revoked license, and expired registration.

At approximately 12 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Hiser was driving for a license plate violation. It was discovered that Hiser’s driver’s license is currently revoked and that he has a warrant out of Carter County for violation of probation. Hiser gave officers consent to search his vehicle. Inside it, officers discovered 8.9 grams of methamphetamine, a Suboxone pill, baggies, glass smoking pipe, syringe, and a digital scale.

Hiser was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond. His arraignment was on Dec. 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Friday, Dec. 2, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Freddy Hartley, Elizabethton, and charged him with theft of property over $2,500.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2915 W. Market St., in reference to embezzlement. It was discovered between the dates of Nov. 19-Dec. 2, employee Freddy Hartley had taken approximately $2,800 worth of merchandise from the business without rendering any form of payment.

Hartley was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $7,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, at approximately 1:01 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jecory Williams, Johnson City, and charged him with manufacture/delivery/sell of a controlled substance, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and possessing a firearm during commission/attempt to commit a felony.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were on routine patrol in the area of Browns Mill Road and N. Roan St. Officers observed a Silver Chevrolet Impala driving on N. Roan St., and conducted a traffic stop on it. While on the stop, the K9 unit alerted on the vehicle and a search of the vehicle was conducted. The search produced a backpack that contained what appeared to be a felony amount of marijuana. Also inside the bag was a crystal white substance consistent with methamphetamine. Along with these items were multiple scales and small baggies. Also inside the bag with the narcotics was a handgun. Through officers’ investigation it was found that the bag belonged to the passenger, Jecory Williams.

Police arrested Williams and transported him to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Sunday, Dec. 4,  officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kimberly Knox, Johnson City, and charged her with burglary and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 6:59 p.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress at 1416 S. Roan St. Upon arrival, Knox was found inside the building in possession of a bucket of tools. The investigation revealed that Knox and two other subjects (who had already fled the scene) had been loading the tools in the bucket with the intention of stealing them. They had entered the building by breaking a window on the first floor. There were also two syringes found inside Knox’s belongings, and Knox stated they were for the use of methamphetamine.

Knox was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Dewayne Bailey, Jonesborough, and charged him with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, improper display of registration, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and driving while in possession of methamphetamine.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., officers observed a white Nissan Frontier with a tag that was displayed in an improper manner. Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Dewayne Bailey. During the encounter with Bailey, officers obtained probable cause to search the truck. During the search, officers located approximately 290 grams of methamphetamine and various items of paraphernalia.

Bailey was then placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 5 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Monday, Dec. 5, at approximately 11 a.m., an officer of the Johnson City Police Department was called to Science Hill High School in reference to an incident that had occurred at the school. The police investigation revealed a school staff member walked in on students vaping in a bathroom. These students were taken to a school administrator’s office. A subsequent search of the students revealed one to be in possession of marijuana in a Rice Crispy treat form. The marijuana was cut into six squares and packaged in plastic bags. In the student’s wallet was $50. As a result of the police investigation, a 14-year-old juvenile male was charged with possession of Schedule VI drugs for resale. Both the drugs and $50 were seized as evidence. The juvenile was issued a felony citation and released to an adult guardian. The juvenile will be arraigned in Johnson City Juvenile Court on Dec. 16 at 9 a.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 4:25 a.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael McDonald, Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated assault (domestic), simple possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful drug paraphernalia. Police responded to a call of a male who was allegedly strangling a female and threatening other individuals in the household. The caller claimed the male had a knife and a gun and had threatened to kill some of the residents.  Officers arrived and found the victim crying outside the residence. She advised officers her boyfriend, Michael McDonald, had put her in a chokehold and held her by the throat until she lost consciousness. The victim displayed marks on her throat consistent with strangulation, in conjunction with a bruised and swollen left temple and eyelid. McDonald was apprehended a short time thereafter.

Once in custody, McDonald was also found in possession of a Xanax pill and glass pipes consistent with the use of methamphetamine. McDonald was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where arraignment was on Dec. 7.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Adena L. Leathers, Johnson City, charging her with identity theft.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Leathers. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Leathers falsely identified herself by providing someone else’s identifying information. Leathers provided this information in an attempt to hinder the officer’s investigation.

Leathers was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. Leathers is being held on a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was Dec. 7 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

On Thursday, Dec. 8, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jeffory A. Buckingham, Kingsport, and charged him with possession of stolen property (motor vehicle).

At approximately 2:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked in the alleyway of the 100 block of W. Holston Ave. The investigation revealed that Buckingham was in possession of the vehicle and its keys, which was valued at approximately $15,000. Buckingham was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center on his charge and an unrelated active arrest warrant.

Buckingham is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond. His arraignment was on Dec. 8 in Washington County General Sessions Court.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Whited, 60, Gray, and charged him with possession of stolen property on Thursday, Dec. 1, then discovered he was a fugitive from justice from Washington County, Ill.

Deputies received a tip of a possible location of a stolen vehicle out of Morristown. When officers arrived, they located the vehicle behind a residence in the Hales Chapel Community. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and after a records check Whited was arrested for possession of stolen property.

During the arrest process deputies discovered Whited was wanted out of the State of Illinois for another stolen vehicle. Additional charges of fugitive from justice were added and he was placed in the Washington County Detention Center Jail without bond and his arraignment on Washington County Sheriff’s Office charges was on Dec. 2.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Spencer Yates, 45, Jonesborough, and charged him with conspiracy to commit a felony, aggravated burglary, prohibited weapons, unlawful drug paraphernalia, violation of vehicle registration law, forgery, identity theft, theft over $500 and theft of a motor vehicle.

The investigation and resulting charges stemmed from a burglary call Washington County Sheriff’s Office answered at a Jonesborough residence on Nov. 1. Yates was on the scene of that call, and investigators discovered the truck he was driving was reported stolen from Marshall, N.C., in early October.

The vehicle was recovered by investigators of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to be returned to the victim and Yates was arrested for motor vehicle theft.

Investigators retrieved a pair of brass knuckles from Yates’ pocket, a bank card and two checkbooks belonging to the victim of a burglary that occurred a few days prior on Jim Town Road in Washington County, along with a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine.

Investigators determined that Yates had taken one of the victim’s checks and cashed it at Eastman Credit Union in Jonesborough in the amount of $850 without the account holder’s consent in late October. It is believed that Yates wrote the check to himself and signed the victim’s name.

On Nov. 4, investigators traveled to Yates’ residence and located a stolen 1963 Chevy Nova that was taken from a location in Telford.

His bond is set at $9,500 and his initial appearance on these additional charges was on Dec. 2 in Sessions Court.

JONESBOROUGH — Isaac Alvin Trevor Ollis, 36, Bakersville, N.C., added a felony charge of Introduction of contraband into a penal facility to his misdemeanor charge of shoplifting/theft of property.

Upon booking Ollis into the Washington County Detention Center the evening of Thursday, Dec. 1, deputies discovered an anomaly on his body scan. He was found to have a baggie containing a crystal-like substance tucked away in his groin area. It field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

His bond is now set at $6,000, and Ollis appeared in Sessions Court on Dec. 2.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Jeffery Clark, 42, Rogersville, on Thursday, Dec. 1, on failure to appear for previous drug and theft charges. While officers were completing the booking process it was found that Clark was in possession of methamphetamine and he received additional charges of introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

He is being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond. Arraignment was on Dec. 2 in Sessions Court.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Mark Littner, 61, Johnson City, on Sunday, Dec. 4, and charged him with aggravated domestic assault.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to Chatfield Square in Johnson City. The victim stated that Littner had physically assaulted her and fired shots at her vehicle as she attempted to leave the residence. Deputies observed what appeared to be two bullet holes on the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle. Spent shell casings were found between the front door and the driveway.

Littner, who was located inside the home, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. His bond was set at $50,000. He was arraigned in Session Court on Dec. 5.
