On Nov. 23, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jennifer Gibson, Johnson City, charging her with theft under $1,000 and identity theft. The arrest resulted from Gibson using a debit card without the permission of the owner. Several transactions were made totaling over $600 in loss.
Gibson was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. She is being held on a $5,000 bond. Gibson’s next court appearance is pending at this time in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Nov. 23, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Micheal Sims, Johnson City, and charged him with shoplifting, theft of property under $1,000, and burglary.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Road, in reference to a male shoplifting. Officers arrived on the scene and the male, later identified as Micheal Sims, was currently walking through the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise. Sims then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Investigation revealed Sims attempted to take 37 items for a total of $782.29. The investigation also revealed Sims had been previously trespassed from all Walmart properties as of November 2, 2022. As a result, Sims was placed under arrest for shoplifting, theft of property under $1,000, and burglary.
Sims was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was on Nov. 28 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Nov. 23, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jennifer Gibson, Johnson City, and charged her with shoplifting and theft of property over $1,000.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Road, in reference to a female shoplifting. Officers arrived on the scene and the female, later identified as Jennifer Gibson, was at the self-checkout registers. Officers observed Gibson skip several items, then place the un-scanned items into bags. Gibson scanned a total of $1,004.24 in merchandise. She inserted her card, which declined the purchase; she then took all the merchandise and attempted to leave the store. Investigation revealed Gibson attempted to take 74 items valued at $1,372.04. As a result, she was placed under arrest for shoplifting and theft of property over $1,000.
Gibson was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was on Nov. 28 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Nov. 28, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Bill J. Williams, Johnson City, and charged him with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
The arrest occurred at a gas station on South Roan St. Williams was passed out in the driver’s seat of a black SUV with the engine running. Officers conducted an investigation which uncovered a glass pipe and a small plastic bag containing a felony amount of white substance believed to be powder cocaine.
Williams was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of a $2,500 bond. Arraignment was on Nov. 29 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Nov. 28, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Stacey Mayfield, Johnson City, and charged her with burglary of a motor vehicle, criminal trespassing, and possession of burglary tools.
At approximately 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle burglary at 2911 W. Walnut St. Officers were able to locate the suspect, Stacey Mayfield, nearby and recovered property that she had taken from the victim’s vehicle. Further investigation showed that she had previously been barred from the property earlier this month and that she was in possession of burglary tools at the time of the offense.
Mayfield was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held on a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was on Nov. 29 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On Nov. 29, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Melvin Stevenson, Johnson City, and charged him with Schedule II drug violation, methamphetamine possession, deliver, sell, driving on suspended license, speeding and simple possession. Officers also arrested Scottie Buck, Johnson City, and charged her with theft of a firearm, methamphetamine possession, deliver, sell and simple possession.
At approximately 3 a.m., officers observed a vehicle speeding in the area of W. Market St. and Veterans Way. Officers made contact with Stevenson, who was driving the vehicle along with Buck in the passenger seat. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded various amounts of substances consistent with illegal narcotics along with a handgun.
Stevenson was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond. Buck was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is also being held on a $20,000 bond. Arraignment on both subjects was Nov. 30 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
