The Junior Cyclones swim team broke nine school records in their meet at TN High School on Saturday.  Just 3 days later, they hosted Hawkins County at home and broke or rebroke another five records.
The boys’ team only consists of four members, just enough for a relay team, but what they lack in numbers they make up for with talent. Louis Trivette, Tripp Trivette, Tyler Lunsford, and Atticus Briehl now hold the 100 freestyle relay record.  Briehl also owns four individual records in the 25, 50 and 100 Freestyle events, and 100 Individual Medley.
The girls’ team is composed of 25 members, seven of whom hold all of the records on the board this season.  Ell Nekvasil broke the 100 Individual Medley record on Saturday and proceeded to break it again Tuesday afternoon by dropping another 1.19 seconds in the event.  She also rebroke her 50 backstroke record by dropping a slim 17 hundredths off her previous record.  Trinity Hopwood broke both the 100 and 200 Freestyle records on Saturday with impressive times of 1:07.80 and 2:28.81 consecutively.  Molly Laney now holds the 50 butterfly record after cutting an additional 1.38 seconds from her previous record.  Madelaine Isaacs broke the previous records in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke with times of 31.68 and 41.52 consecutively.  Twin sisters Holly and Hannah Holsclaw and Alayna Holt now hold records in relays they share with Nekvasil, Hopwood, Isaacs, and Laney.
“The amount of talent we have makes it a lot of fun to put together the relays and watching all of our swimmers improve so dramatically over the course of such a short season is inspiring,” coach Broussard stated. The cuts in time are not unique to the record holders on the team.  Every member of the team is improving from meet to meet.  Their next meet is the middle school championship meet on Saturday at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.  The meet starts at about 1:30 pm.
