Early voting for 2022 mid-term elections ends

The early voting period for the 2022 mid-term elections ended Wednesday in Tennessee.
Tracy Tanner-Harris, administrator of elections for Carter County, said early voting was steady.
“Voting was steady for this year’s mid-term early voting period and outpaced both primary elections held earlier this year,” she said.
A total of 4,734 ballots were cast by Carter County voters as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. But, that pace was well off the mark for 2020 election early voting, which totaled 12,313 votes, while the same period during the 2018 mid-terms saw 8,984 persons vote early.
Voters who didn’t cast their ballots during the early voting period are reminded the general election for governor, U.S. House of Representatives, Tennessee Senate (odd numbered districts) and the Tennessee House of Representatives will be held on Tuesday. Polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. in the eastern portion of the state. As long as you are in line to vote when the polling station closes at 7 p.m., you will be allowed to vote in the election.
Voters must present a federal or Tennessee state government-issued photo ID. College student IDs, photo IDs issued by other states, county or city governments, including library cards, will not be accepted. Also, on election day operating polling sites are subject to the 100-foot boundary rules. Per state law, no campaign materials, including signs, shirts, hats, or campaign literature, are permitted within 100 feet of any polling place. No campaigning, including vote solicitation, can take place inside the boundary and political candidates are prohibited from entering the boundary unless they have official business inside the polling area.
