Charlotte Marie Babb Forbes Laws, 84, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, October 31, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was also known by many as “Totty.”
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Edward and Rosetta Crigger Babb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Forbes; her second husband, Bob Laws; a son, Clyde Edward Forbes; her daughters, Linda Forbes and Karen Forbes Fritts Fisher; her sister, Helen Babb Harrison; infant brother; and her great-grandsons, Lucas Brown and Ethan Brown.
Charlotte was a 1956 graduate of Hampton High School and served on the class reunion committee. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church where she attended for 80 years and was a member of the Young At Heart Ladies Sunday School Class where she had served as secretary for several years.
Charlotte owned and operated the Professional Snack Bar and Charlotte’s Catering. She worked as secretary for Class Act Cycle.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Rosie Forbes Rouse (David) Harwell; her grandchildren, Brandon (Tracy) Estep, Jessica Rouse Brown (Jake) Smith, Robbie Fritts, Thomas (Danielle) Hamby, Jeremy (Stephanie) Rouse, Clarinda Anderson (Shane) O’dell, James (Morgan) Forbes, Jacob (Justina) Forbes, Julie Forbes and Dakota (Lindsey) Harwell; her great-grandchildren, Calvyn Estep, Cali Estep, Quest Estep, Emily Brown (Austin) Norton, Halee Brown, Carolina Smith, Sterling Harwell, Shayln Odell, Layla Anderson, A.J. Martin and Cameron Hamby; her great-great-grandsons, Connor, Elijah and Grayson; a niece, Lisa (Tony) Morgan; nephews, Carl (Cheryl) Harrison and Jack (Regina) Harrison; her brother-in-law, Sam Harrison; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Forbes; a son-in-law, Jim Fritts; adopted grandson, Bo Lyons; special friend, Peggy (Ikis) Nave; her cousin, Lucy Babb; and several other cousins.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Charlotte Laws will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 4, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Music will be provided by Bo Lyons, Lisa Morgan and Joel Crisp. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Avalon Hospice, Sarah and Grace.
