Elizabethton High School football players teach kids to work as a team

A young boy at the Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County asked one of the Youth Development Professionals if she knew how much admission was to an Elizabethton Cyclone football game. She told him, “I believe the price of a ticket is eight dollars.” He told her it was his dream to see the Cyclones play football.
The Youth Development Professional called Kaleb Holzer, a Cyclone player she knew and asked if he could teach football fundamentals to the children. Kaleb called a few team members and they agreed to volunteer their time and meet the kids at Kiwanis Park.
Kaleb Holzer, the junior linebacker for the Cyclones said, “We want to create a day that these kids can remember and just give back.” The club members had an amazing time passing, blocking, learning formations and just having fun.
Matthew, a long-time club member said, “This was the most fun he has ever had and will never forget the experience.” Whether on a football field or in life, teamwork is a skill that can make or break your success. Football is much more than a game; it teaches lessons that the players carry with them long after they’ve hung up their cleats.
