Carl Lindsay “Lynn” Rash, 79, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Known by most in the community as “Big Lynn,” he was born on the Rash family farm in the Blue Springs Community on July 10, 1943 and spent his whole life enjoying being a Carter County farmer.
Lynn was a 1963 graduate of Elizabethton High School. In addition to farming, he also had a long career as a semi truck driver, where he retired from Wal-Mart in 2007.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Vesta McQueen Rash; three sisters, Edna Rash, Ruth Estep and Pamela Gardner; and two brothers, William “Billy” Rash and Harvey Rash.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Louise Rash; his son and farming buddy, Carl Lindsay Rash II “Little Lynn” and wife Tammy; his daughter, Linda McClure and husband Mitchell; a step-son, Jerry Taylor and wife Robin; a brother, John Rash; and a sister, Patricia Rash; along with a wonderful family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers were his grandsons, Andrew and Scott Heuiser, Josh Jones, Ezekiel McClure, Josh and Casey Taylor. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the wonderful staff of Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care of Lynn and his family.
