Martha Ann Smith, age 88, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and her husband on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Martha was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Coleman and Elsie (Hebel) Williams. In addition to her parents, Martha was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Harol Lee Smith on August 20, 2022, and a brother, Dale Williams.
Martha was a wonderful wife and mother. She kept a beautiful home and enjoyed her role as a housewife to her family. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she did secretarial work, was a Sunday School teacher and nursery coordinator. Martha also enjoyed painting, working with ceramics and sewing. She had a very creative flair for crafting.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory include two sons, Mike (Carol) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky and John (Bonnie) Smith of Watauga, Tennessee; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many friends, neighbors and church family.
A celebration of Martha’s life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton with Pastor Travis Tyler officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the church prior to the service on Tuesday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section- 53 Memorial Avenue, Mountain Home, Tennessee). Active pallbearers will be John Smith, Mike Smith, MSGT Andrew Smith, US Air Force Reserves, Matthew Smith, Dave Ferguson, Jack Hamilton, and Junior Wilson. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Tuesday.
