Non-conference game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16 in Clarksville
JOHNSON CITY – Both the ETSU and Austin Peay Athletic Departments announced on Wednesday afternoon that the Buccaneers and Governors will meet on the gridiron on September 16, 2023, at Fortera Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn.
This marks the return game from the 2019 season where ETSU defeated Austin Peay, 20-14, in Greene Stadium. The Governors advanced to the FCS quarterfinals that season before eventually falling to No. 5 national seed Montana State in Bozeman.
ETSU will be making its first trip to Austin Peay since Nov. 18, 1977, where the teams were Ohio Valley Conference rivals.
The Bucs lead the all-time series 15-12-2. The first-ever game played in the series was in 1951 when ETSU won 13-12 in Johnson City.
The game time for next year’s matchup will be announced at a later time.
