On September 13, Johnson City Police Department Officers served an arrest warrant on Timothy Person, Johnson City, charging him with theft of property over $1000.
On September 13 at approximately 3:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Glynridge Avenue in reference to a theft investigation involving a Sony PlayStation 5 and an Omen desktop. Investigation revealed Timothy Person took both items and pawned the PlayStation 5 on a previous date. A warrant for his arrest was obtained.
The arrest warrant was served and Person was placed under arrest for theft of property over $1000. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment was held on September 14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On September 14, Tedmund Smith, 51, General Delivery Johnson City, was arrested and charged with burglary of a business. The arrest stems from a shoplifting incident that occurred at Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Road. Smith took merchandise and passed all points of sale without paying for the items. Smith was approached by Loss Prevention Personnel and he ultimately fled with the stolen merchandise. Smith was apprehended by Johnson City Police Department Officers without incident a short distance from Walmart. The burglary charge comes after it was discovered Smith had previously been charged with shoplifting from this same Walmart, had been trespassed and was not to return to this or any other Walmart properties.
Smith was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and had a court date of September 15.
On September 14, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Roger Pollard, Piney Flats, charging him with one count of solicitation of a minor.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a complaint that Pollard sent obscene messages to a juvenile via social media.
Pollard was booked into the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Pollard appeared in Washington County General Sessions Court on September 15.
On Wednesday, September 14, at 8:30 a.m., a school resource officer of the Johnson City Police Department was made aware of an incident in which a male student was currently suspected of using marijuana. A subsequent search of the student’s backpack by school administration revealed the presence of a knife. The student advised he carried it for protection when he walks. The student was cited by police for possession of a weapon on school property and was released to his parents. His arraignment date is scheduled for September 30 at 9 a.m. in Johnson City Juvenile Court.
On September 15, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Summer R. Bentley, Gray, and charged her with felony possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of Schedule I, simple possession of Schedule III, two counts of simple possession of Schedule IV, simple possession of marijuana, and four counts of unlawful drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., Johnson City Investigators observed Bentley drive onto the parking lot of 2406 N. Roan St. Investigators were aware of an arrest warrant for Bentley out of Washington County, TN. She was taken into custody and officers conducted a search of her vehicle. The search revealed 16 grams of Methamphetamine, 0.8 grams of Heroin, 1.7 grams of Marijuana, various prescription pills for which she had no prescription, and multiple drug paraphernalia items.
Bentley was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she was being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond. Her arraignment was on September 15 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On September 15, Johnson City Police Department Officers arrested Mindy Buckles, Elizabethton, and charged her with DUI (fourth offense).
At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to 2111 N. Roan St., regarding a woman asleep in a vehicle in the parking lot. Buckles was found to be impaired and was taken into custody for DUI. Buckles’ driving history revealed that she has three prior DUI convictions.
Buckles was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held awaiting a bond hearing. Her arraignment was September 16 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On September 17, Johnson City Police Department Officers arrested Michael Kimes, Gray, and charged him with aggravated burglary and theft over $2,500.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a residential burglary that occurred in the 1700 block of Cherokee Road on September 15.
Kimes was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft (over $2,500). He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. The next court date for Kimes is pending at this time.
On September 19 at 2:22 a.m., Johnson City Police Department Officers arrested Alexander C. Cook, Johnson City, and charged him with aggravated domestic assault.
Officers were dispatched on a domestic disturbance at 8 Village Court, Johnson City. Investigation revealed Cook choked a female victim and threw her to the ground causing injuries to her face. Cook was arrested and transported to Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. An arraignment was on September 19 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
