Sharon G. Swann

Sharon Guinn Swann, age 71, of Walland, TN and Beaufort, SC passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, after an extended illness. A native of Elizabethton, TN, she was the daughter of Helma Guinn and Lester Guinn. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and East Tennessee State University. She received a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from East Tennessee State University. She worked for over 30 years in the Elizabethton School System and the Knox County School System. She took great pride in being a teacher and loved her school children as her own.

Her greatest joy in life was being an Omi. After retiring, she spent the rest of her days dedicated to her grandchildren, the true love of her life. She also cherished time with her friends and her treasured Betsy Babes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Guinn, her mother, Helma Guinn, and brother, Burl Guinn.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Henry Swann, children, Heather Fetzer Midyette, Katherine Hemen, Bill Swann (Jerilyn), Steve Swann (Martha) Grandchildren, Parker Midyette, Mariah Midyette, Gavin Midyette, Robin Armstrong, Astrid Hemen, Josie Swann, Samantha Swann, Mitch Swann.

There will be a memorial service at 6:30 pm on September 14, 2022, at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Seymour, TN followed by a reception.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am on September 17, 2022, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Elizabethton, TN followed by a luncheon at the Elizabethton Covered Bridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
