Nolensville, Tennessee used a grand slam in the first inning to advance to the Championship game of the Little League World Series on Saturday against Hawaii. Tennessee scored four runs in the first, one in the fourth and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 7-1 win. Nolensville’s seven runs game on 10 hits, they made only one error in the game. Josiah Porter who is blind in one eye came through in the first with the bases loaded for a shot up the middle and four RBI’s in his first at-bats. He is currently batting .400 for the tournament.
Texas scored first in the top of the inning when Jacob Zurek hit a double and would score on Kaiden Sheldon’s single to right field. Tennessee answered quickly in the bottom of the inning with three hits in a row from Jack Rhodes, Bo Daniel and Wright Martin before Josiah Ported delivered the grand slam. Daniel and Martin would score in the fifth and Drew Chadwick scored in the fourth for Tennessee’s seven runs. Drew Chadwick earned the win for the Southeast team who struck out six and walked zero. Austin Cummings suffered the loss.
They will now face a big tough Hawaii team who already beat them once 13-0 to send them to the loser bracket. This championship game on Saturday may be a little different story as Tennessee has both its number one and number two pitchers ready to go.
