I have a confession to make. Yes, I am over 50 years old and listen to Adventures in Odyssey. It is a kid’s radio program with good clean storylines and biblical messages. I started listening with my son, Dakota, when he was a little boy. I still listen because I love hearing the kids’ mishaps on the show. They can go to an ice cream parlor owned by Mr. Whitaker, and he has all the advice they need, and it all comes from the Bible.
Every once in a while, a story speaks to me, and I learn something too. In this particular episode, Mr. Whitaker and a couple of kids checked on an elderly lady. The lady was telling the kids a story about her cat. Her cat had hurt his paw, and she had to clean the wound and put a dressing on it. She knew the cat couldn’t understand why she was doing what she was doing. He would not see that it was for his own good. Especially when she was helping him, it was hurting him simultaneously. The cat just had to have faith in her while she worked on him. He had to trust her to know what she was doing even when he didn’t understand it.
I took that story and applied it to my own life. I need to have faith in God to work on me. He cannot explain the reasons to me — I probably would not understand them if He did. I need to trust God. I have to believe God knows what He is doing and that He knows what is best for me. God is still in control no matter what, even when it hurts.
