On July 11, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jonathon Bulla and charged him with felon in possession of a handgun.
The arrest occurred after officers located Bulla in an apartment in Johnson City. Bulla had outstanding warrants out of surrounding jurisdictions and Johnson City. A loaded handgun was found in plain view within arm’s reach of Bulla. Bulla is a convicted felon out of Washington County.
Bulla was taken into custody and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. He is being held on a $10,000 bond. An arraignment was on July 12 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
On July 14, Johnson City Police Department Officers arrested Billy Lee Shelton, 30, of Johnson City, on charges of theft of property (over $10,000), theft of property (over $5,000), and burglary. The arrest resulted from an investigation into a storage unit burglary that occurred at Universal Storage in Johnson City.
The investigation revealed that Shelton was observed on security cameras loading a white box truck with property from a storage unit that did not belong to him. On July 12, he was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant from another storage unit burglary that occurred on a separate date, also at Universal Storage. Further investigation revealed that the white box truck Shelton had been using in the commission of the burglaries had been stolen from Rolling Hills Drive back in November 2021. Shelton is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a total $15,500 bond. A court arraignment was set for Friday, July 15, at 10:30 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
