Emory & Henry Baseball’s Jared Foley named to VaSID All-State Second Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team has seen one of its own named All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors, VaSID officials announced Tuesday.
Sophomore third baseman Jared Foley (Sparta, N.C.) was picked to the all-state second team. This marks the second year in a row that an E&H player has been recognized by VaSID.
Foley hit .391 for the year, leading the team with 52 hits, 30 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. He boasted a .428 on-base percentage and added 14 RBI. He had a 22-game hitting streak over the course of the season with 18 multi-hit games.
University of Lynchburg won all three major player awards with Avery Neaves named Player of the Year and Grayson Thurman picked as Pitcher of the Year. Nick Mattfield was tabbed as the Rookie of the Year. Shenandoah University mentor Kevin Anderson earned Coach-of-the-Year laurels.
VaSID, founded in 1983, names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all sports information professionals working at a university or conference in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
