The Elizabethton Lady Cyclone softball team fell short of their goals in the 2022 season but that didn’t stop two seniors on the team from being recognized for their efforts.
Maddie O’Quinn was selected All-State by the Tennessee Coaches Association for the 2022 season. O’Quinn batted .500 for the season playing in multiple positions with outstanding defense.
She led the Lady Cyclones in batting average, runs scored, and was second in RBI’s batting second in the line-up. O’Quinn also accomplished the feat of playing all nine positions in one game.
Johnson College signee Madisun Pritchard was selected by the Tennessee Coaches Association to play in the All-State All-Star game played on June 14 at Volunteer State in Gallatin.
The East All-Stars won the first game over the Middle Tennessee All-Stars by a score of 2-0. In that game, Pritchard played first base making two plays in the field.
In the second game, the East All-Stars won by a score of 11-0 over the West Tennessee All-Stars. She was called upon to pitch the final three innings where she faced 10 batters allowing no hits and the only base runner allowed was by a walk.
Elizabethton head coach Ken Hardin was an assistant coach on the team.
“Madisun faced some great hitters,” Hardin said of his star pitcher. “She got a great compliment from the Anderson County catcher who was named East Tennessee Miss Softball. The catcher said that Madisun’s pitches really moved and spun.”
Hardin said he was appreciative of the effort both players have given in their time as Lady Cyclones.
