Wilderado, Illiterate Light, Drivin N Cryin, Mo Lowda & The Humble, Hotel Fiction, and The Vegabonds are among the musical groups to headline this year’s festival, taking place June 3-4 in Downtown Johnson City.
The annual celebration returns to Founders Park and spans through the Market Street parking lot to King Commons Park and features more than a dozen popular bands and performers. Event activities will include a Ferris wheel, kids zone, silent disco, wellness area, and arts activities. The expanded wellness area — with a Wellness Challenge powered by the FytFeed app — will feature bike demos, classes in belly dancing and tai chi, a roller skate party by Rollerdance Tri-Cities, two 5K events, chair massages, and Adult Field Day. Exclusive to this year’s festival is a special performance by the band Illiterate Light featuring a bike-powered act that uses the energy of audience-powered generator bikes for live shows.
Other musical groups scheduled to appear are Akita, Brushfire Stankgrass, Grizzly Goat, Sam Collie & The Roustabouts, Adam Bolt, Fritz & Co, Donnie & The Dry Heavers, Morgans Mill, Shake It Like A Caveman, Zach McNabb, and The Bee Keepers.
“The line-up this year has a little something for everyone,” said Caroline Abercrombie, Festival Chair. “The artists for the 2022 festival include local talent as well as regional and nationally-recognized acts.”
Volunteers are still needed. “It takes a village to run a two-day music festival,” said Ashley Cavender, Festival Volunteer Chair. “If you love music, meeting new people and being in the middle of all the festival fun, then we’d love for you to sign up as a volunteer and become a part of our Blue Plum Festival Team.”
