The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2166 in Elizabethton took time on Tuesday to clean the Veterans War Memorial and the Walk of Honor on Armed Forces Drive as part of Tuesday’s VFW National Day of Service.

The National Day of Service grew out of the VFW’s Still Serving initiative and is a way to show that veterans continue to serve in their communities.

Joining Post 2166 were volunteers from the community including two active National Guard members and six cadets from the Elizabethton High School Navy JROTC program which also participated in the event.
