Richard Church has been named the assistant director of Carter County Schools effectively immediately.
The announcement was made by current director of schools Dr. Tracy McAbee on Friday.
The change will ensure continuity of leadership as McAbee departs for his new position as the director of Lewis County Schools giving time for the Carter County Board of Education to fill McAbee’s position in June.
Church currently serves as the Director of Human Resources and Special Projects. He has 22 years of education experience, including 10 years as both elementary and high school principal.
