Johnson City shoplifting arrest leads to multiple charges against two women

A shoplifting incident at the Walmart located at 3111 Browns Mill Road in Johnson City landed two women in jail on various charges.
On Tuesday, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Victoria Chafin of Johnson City and Carrie Capelouto of Bristol, Virginia.
Chafin was arrested for burglary while Capelouto was charged with shoplifting, possession of methamphetamine, schedule 2 drug violations, schedule 6 drug violations, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and simple possession.
Upon arrival at Walmart, officers discovered Chafin had previously been trespassed from all Walmart properties stemming from an incident in October of 2017 resulting in Chafin receiving a burglary charge.
A search incident led to the arrest of Capelouto when it was revealed that 89.8 grams of a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine, 15 white pills believed to be Alprazolam, 4.2 grams of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana, three glass pipes, and several clear baggies.
Chafin remains in the custody of the Washington County Detention Center with a bond of $1,000. Capelouto remains in the custody of the Washington County Detention Center with a $2,500 bond.
Each are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on May 18.
