Roan Mountain woman arrested for shoplifting, drug possession

Johnson City police have arrested a Roan Mountain woman on charges of shoplifting at a Johnson City Walmart.
At 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, officers with the JCPD arrested Tabatha Hampton of Roan Mountain and charged her with possession of methamphetamine and theft of property under $1,000.
According to a police department report, officers were called on a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Walmart at 3111 Browns Mill Road in Johnson City.
The investigation revealed that Hampton had shoplifted merchandise valued at $108.81. Officers recovered stolen merchandise in Hampton’s purse and recovered 16.4 grams of a white rock substance that appeared to be methamphetamine.
The substance will be sent to TBI Laboratory for proper testing.
Hampton was arrested and transported to Washington County Detention Center where she is being held on a $5,000 bond. An arraignment was set for May 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
