Happy Valley Elementary School teachers found a way to encourage students to “knock it out of the park” during state testing.
The teachers were looking for a way to motivate and inspire their students to do their very best on the 2021-2022 TCAP tests that recently took place. So a test theme was developed: “Knock it Out of the Park” which included a special day where students, faculty, and staff dressed in their favorite baseball team attire.
During the Knock it Out of the Park Day, Principal Mandy Greer was live-streamed into the classrooms where she read the story “Testing Miss Malarkey” while members of the Happy Valley High School baseball and softball teams visited classrooms encouraging students to not stress and to do their best.
“Due to the circumstances of the last two years, we wanted our Warrior Nation to unite as a team and to provide students with a fun and stress-free atmosphere while encouraging them to do their best and ‘knock TCAP tests out of the park,'” said Assistant Principal Lisa Ensor.
Hallways were decorated with baseball-themed decorations and encouraging bulletin boards and posters.
On Tuesday, to celebrate wrapping up the tests, HVE students got a chance to take a swing at baseball-shaped piñatas and also were treated to kickball and whiffle ball games with the high school athletes at Happy Valley High School’s baseball and softball fields.
