The Elizabethton VFW Post 2166 in Elizabethton is gearing up for a busy month of May.

Second Harvest Food Bank will be distributing food for veterans and their families that need assistance at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13. The distribution will take place at the VFW Post which is located at 2001 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

Those who plan on attending the distribution are asked to have room in their trunk for the food box and to pop their trunk once they arrive in the line at the post. Families can remain in their vehicles as food will be loaded for them.

For those planning on attending the food distribution, you are asked to please contact David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824 to sign up.

Also, a Blood Drive will be held on Saturday, May 21, which is Armed Forces Day. The drive will be conducted by Marsh Regional Blood Center at the VFW Post from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The third annual VFW Post 2166 Auxiliary Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, May 27, at the Elizabethton Golf Course.

Room is still available on either the 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. shotgun starts. Lunch will be provided by the Elizabethton Chick-fil-A at noon. Hole and Team Sponsors are still being accepted.
