Hampton falls to U-H as regular season heads toward an end

The University High Bucs got the bats going early leaving the Hampton Bulldogs trying to play catch-up in Watauga Valley Conference baseball action on Tuesday.
Hampton couldn’t put together enough offensive opportunity to catch the Bucs and fell in a 13-2 loss. The Bulldogs stand at 21-9 as the regular season is coming to a close and tournament action is around the corner.
U-H put the game on ice in the seventh inning as the Bucs scored four runs to cap off their 13-run performance.
The Bucs capitalized on a walk to Drew Finney, a single by Bushy Ryder, and a double by Stott.
Miles Bembry was the winning pitcher for U-H surrendering the two runs on eight Bulldog hits over seven innings while striking out nine.
Jonathan Greenwell took the loss for the ‘Dogs going four innings from the mound giving up four hits and seven runs. He struck out five.
Hampton was led at the plate by Greenwell and Chance Point who picked up a pair of base hits each.
Stott, Jack Harmon, and Finney collected multiple hits for U-H with Stott going 3-for-5.
U-H ran their overall season record to 15-11.
