Cyclone senior standout Treadway inks to continue college career at Brunswick Community College

Gage Treadway was joined by his family as he signed to play collegiate baseball for Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC.
A trip to Brunswick, NC by the Elizabethton Cyclone baseball team was productive in more than one way for one of their key senior players.
Cyclone head coach Ryan Presnell made a call to Brunswick Community College head coach Robbie Allen with an invitation to check out Gage Treadway while the Cyclones played a series of games in the area and all it took was one inning of watching Treadway working from the mound to know the Dolphin program needed the Elizabethton product as part of their squad.
The next day, an offer was on the table and Treadway made his commitment on Wednesday at the Elizabethton Commons Area to attend the two-year community college in Bolivia, North Carolina located near the coast by inking is National Letter of Intent.
“We get to do something really special today,” Presnell said prior to Treadway’s signing. “One of my favorite parts of being a coach is getting to send them to the next level.”
Presnell added that early on as a coaching staff, they knew the day was coming for Treadway to take his talents to the next level.
“We knew that this day was coming like the third or fourth day,” said Presnell. “It wasn’t necessarily the talent that popped but the heart. We knew this kid was going to take it to the next level. We knew he was going to get out every ounce of what he had in that 120-pound body and since then he has gained a few pounds and gained a few curls naturally and artificially.
“Over the years watching Gage work and watching him go from a little bitty tiny guy and transforming his body and his mind into a college baseball was something that was really fun to watch.”
Treadway’s pitching coach at Elizabethton, Reid Casey, said enough couldn’t be said about him.
“He is a great human being and has worked extremely hard at his craft and there is a lot more left in the tank for him,” said Casey. “He is deserving of the opportunity.”
Presnell went on to praise Treadway’s family for the work they put into helping him achieve the opportunity of moving on to the next level.
“Honestly, it was a testament to his family because everyone in here knows what this family puts into Cyclone baseball and everything else they do is 100% and so they are a great example for you young guys and young families of what it takes to get this done,” said Presnell.” It is not easy and it’s not for the faint of heart.
“College coaches see talent every day – we tell our guys that talent plus what you bring to the table that is going to stand out.”
