EPD participating in National Drug Take-Back Day

With National Drug Take-Back Day scheduled for Saturday, April 30, The Elizabethton Police Department will be joining in National Drug Take-Back Day on April 30, giving the pubic a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elizabethton Police Department located at 511 E. F St. in Elizabethton.
This year, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Department of Health, and TN Together are teaming up to encourage participation in the upcoming National Drug Take-Back Day.
When it comes to prescription drugs, the following steps are encouraged:

Count it. Make it a goal to count your pills once every two weeks. This will prevent theft and help ensure medications are taken properly.

Lock it. Lock up your medications and store them in a secure place that others would not think to look.

Drop it. Drop off your unused or expired medications for proper disposal at drop boxes located in participating law enforcement offices or pharmacies.

Illegal drugs & narcotics (police will accept these items if placed in the container)
