Johnson City police seek clues in former Carter County resident’s death

The Johnson City Police Department is continuing its investigation into a homicide involving a former Carter County resident.
James Allen “Spook” Watson was found dead Wednesday, April 13, at Woodstone Condominiums, according to Johnson City Police Department investigator Gary Wills. The cause of death was undisclosed.
Rex Lewis was charged with tampering with evidence. Lewis was arrested on April 13 and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. The next court date for Lewis is pending at this time.
The arrest is part of the investigation but no further details are available at this time, according to Lt. Don Shepard with the Johnson City Police Department.
Police continue to seek the public’s help with information regarding this incident and is encouraging the public to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 423-434-6166.

“This incident is believed to be an isolated event, with no current threat to the general public,” Shepard said.
