Carter signs to Methodist University on Thursday

On Thursday, Elizabethton High School senior basketball player Seth Carter signed his letter of intent to hit the hardwood at the next level, taking his talents to Methodist University.
Before the guard signed his piece of paper however, Elizabethton High School Basketball Head Coach Lucas Honeycutt had a few words to say about Carter.
“Even when he didn’t do the best at practice, he told me he would be ready on Friday night. There are not many kids that can say that and actually be ready on Friday night, but Seth was always ready on game day,” Honeycutt said.
“For me, seeing Seth leave is like losing an assistant coach. He would watch as much as game film as my staff, that’s how dedicated he is,” Honeycutt said.
It was an exciting day for Carter, surrounded by his family and his peers as he begins his transition into playing basketball at the next level.
“It feels great to be here today, and it’s like every little kids dream to sign to play college basketball. Growing up in a place like this where sports and academics are so important, it’s a great experience,” Carter said.
“When you come to Elizabethton, the expectation is to be your best in everything you do. Luckily I have had great coaches and a family that pushes me to do the best I can,” Carter said.
On his college decision, Carter said there were a few factors that went into where he will be playing basketball at the next level.
“When they asked me to come down for a visit, it felt like home,” Carter said. “His coaching style really matched the way I play, so I appreciated that as well.”
Carter said that the coaching staff at Methodist has a close relationship with the players on their team, something that closely resembled the one he experienced while at Elizabethton.
